Confirmation in the Faith

In the course of one's Christian "turas" or journey, those baptized at an early age are expected, when they are ready and have been duly prepared, to make a mature public affirmation of their faith and commitment to the responsibilities of their Baptism and to receive the laying on of hands by the Bishop.

Those baptized as adults, unless baptized with laying on of hands by a Bishop, are also expected to make a public affirmation of their faith and commitment to the responsibilities of their Baptism in the presence of a Bishop and to receive the laying on of hands.

Confirmation is appropriately administered within the Mass between the Liturgy of the Word and Holy Communion as the chief service on a Sunday or other feast day. Holy Baptism is especially appropriate, on the Day of Pentecost, on All Saintís Day or the Sunday after All Saintís Day.

Confirmation is to be administered by a Bishop.

The Baptismal Covenant (Stand)

Bishop: Will you continue in the Apostle's teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers?

People: I will, with God's help.

Bishop: Will you persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord?

People: I will, with God's help.

People: I will, with God's help.
